Since this is the only Ced Gee / Grandmaster Caz team-up not featured on the You Need Stiches LP (which I’ll review tommorrow), it warrants an appearence here. I suspect that it was left off last years compilation after being licensed to ego trip‘s The Big Playback album, and seeing as though Chairman Mao did a superb job with the linear notes, I’ll let him sum things up:
“A little guitar, some “Impeach The President” snares and a few choice turntable manipulations and this former Cold Crush Brother never sounded so jeep ready.”
As Caz proclaims: “I’m not 65 – I’m not retirin’!”, and he proved to be more than able to hold his own in ’88, although his assertion that he’s the “L-O-R-D of R-A-P” might have been over-stepping the mark a little. Ced presents a less sophisticated, stripped-down sound here than found on his Ultramagnetic records, indicating that he was either trying to stay true to Caz’s old school asthetic, or was simply after a quick paycheck. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume it’s the former.

“Get down grandmaster” vs. “bring the horns” by Caz-less Coldcrush..?
Gotta be “feel the horns” for me. I’m more a “you need stitches” kinda guy myself.
Comment by Brian Beck From Wisconsin 07.15.05 @There’s a great unreleased song on the “Stiches” album. I’ll post it tommorrow.
“Feel the Horns” is classic. A lot better than Almighty KG’s other records like “She’s A Dog” or J.D.L.’s horrible attempt at novelty rap with “The Fat Boys Ate Up All The Food”.
Comment by Robbie 07.15.05 @Ced Gee is incredible – and to think I only knew him from Ultra !??! Thanks for this track
Comment by Denmark 07.15.05 @Keep the Ced Gee productions coming. He is the most underrated producer in the history of hip hop.
Comment by Jay 07.15.05 @the blackout in 77… the city went dark, had my whole sound system jammin in the park…
Comment by spell it wit a p 07.21.05 @buck 65 used that ’65/im not retirin’ line well on one of his cds.
i think ‘i’m caz’ is so crooked out. never mentioned much either. so b-beat. “…if i’m washed up then you gotta be dirty- i’m caaazzz!”
