Amongst the billions of mix CDs that seem to drop every week, it’s good to see that there are still some dope tracks if you’re willing to trawl your way through all the garbage. Dirty Harry made a lot of noise when he dropped the superior Biggie Smalls: Rap Phenomenon mix with Vlad The Butcher a while back, and recently did that Living Legends: Nasir Jones piece. The highlights of both of these CDs are the blends….”Party & Bullshit” over “Made You Look” is pretty much the best idea since mixing rum and Coke. Nas and Big L matched with Ski‘s sublime “Dead Presidents” beat makes “Disciple of the Projects” another moment of blend perfection.
Other stuff to check for:
This is a couple of months old, but I’ve gotta mention Joey’s classic review of a recent Tony Starks show.
T-Money Bag$ returns with Styles By The Gram, the new improved version of his old Rhyme Crime Boss site. Since he shares my dedication to that gutter shit from the Rotten Apple, this shit is essential.
Will over at Nastack has also been putting in quality work with reviews of the latest mixtapes, the difference being that he also puts them up for full download.
If Public Enemy was the “Black CNN“, then Fresh‘s Crunk & Disorderly is the like E!channel with “more Whitney, less Britney”.
