This really takes me back…this piece dropped just before Pete began his reign as the most in-demand producer/remixer of the moment, not to mention the impact of the Mecca & The Soul Brother LP. I wonder what happened to that D-Nice, Heavy D and Ice Cube posse cut that he mentions?

man this takes me back dog. I lived and breathed hip hop when I was growing up – this article just showcases how raw and dope hip hop was back then, before all the commercialism and all that shit.

the most recent aceyalone album takes me back to that vibe – just dope beats and lyrics…

Man your vaults are deep son! I wish I still had a lot of my old Word Ups, Sources, and Rappages magazines from that era. These kids could never relate to how the vibe was back then.
