It’s been a long time since the “future of record pools” has actually supplied something reasonable, but there ya go. Indy “super group”1 Polyrhythm Addicts follow-up their suprisingly strong EP from eight years ago with some new shit. As with the old stuff, DJ Spinna is the star of the show here, while the broad remains as the weakest link. Another 90’s survivor, Skillz finally does something not involving the end of the year, enlisting Philly’s bearded-wondah Freeway for a dumb-out session over a catchy Just Blaze rip-off. Let us not forget the blasphemous remake of “Live At The BBQ” that D-Dot threw together with some accapella re-heats. Thing is, Black Rob over “Nautilus” is the best thing I’ve heard in a minute, and if you can ignore the other toy verses not involving Biggie or BR then it’s an enjoyable distraction for a couple of minutes.

  1. 1. I use the term loosly, considering that Shabaam Shadeeq and Mr. Complex were only ever moderately popular in the Rawkus era.[back]

who made this beat? i prefer ‘what we do.(is wrong)’ the collabo comes off as contrived to me. I think Freeway’s a beast on his own.

Nautilus+BIG=ill sounding. I’m not convinced it’s all accapella’s though?..hmmmm

This BBQ joint certainly doesnt outdo its predecessor, but its damn good. Even another recycled BIG verse, with this one coming from 1,2 Yall of the Junior Mafia album sounds ill. I will never get tired of Nautilus being flipped, easily one of the illest beats ever. Peace Robbie!

Those were some of the worse rhymes I’ve ever heard put over Bob James’s Nautilus. They could have dug up an unheard of (or used once) Biggie accapella to use. OH Yeah something’s wrong with the lineup in a possee cut when Wack Rob is the bet living rapper on the song.

I like the girl in that group. She killed that one song on the first Vik Vaughn album.

The “broad”, Robbie? I thought you were more progressive than that…
And I liked Apani.

Next time I’ll try to use something a little nicer, like “dame” or “skirt”. I’m about as progressive as Premier’s drum patterns if you hadn’t noticed.

That Polyrythm Addicts album was damn good for 00!

Apani was dope but Tiye Phoenix ain’t no chump, I think she holds it down nicely…
