Great interview by one of my favorite MC’s. To really realize his impact you had to have been there. Dude practically built what many know as the underground from It’s Yours. That record came out of left field and shook up the way dudes looked at their rhyme schemes, inflection, patterns etc., Before It’s Yours rappers who made records rode the groove, which was counter to how you rocked live over a break. This record, along with Sucker MC’s were the first records that gave you the feeling of rocking oer a cut break.

Nice… story about LL sneak studyin’ his demos is a braggadocio rap in and of itself… I can’t wait to hear what’s up with the film… I remember hearing the hype about it, but then it kinda fizzled and I forgot to check for it…

there was a story a few years back about T-La Rock having amnesia from an accident and not remembering anything from the “It’s Yours” days. He was living in a nursing home with old people. Supposedly HBO was gonna do a film on his life. Any truth to any of this?
