Remember hearing about how picky Nas was when he was choosing the beats for Illmatic? Here’s one that got knocked back, taken from Preme’s Beats That Collected Dust LP. On the ‘newest latest’ tip, here’s some more Work of Mart magic for the b-side to Ill Bill’s vinyl single.
DJ Premier - ‘Original Represent’
Ill Bill – ‘Society Is Brainwashed’

Comment by Roger Jones 08.29.08 @AND YEAH DOLO-That kid Nas has some horrible taste in beats, definitely a”Not so much”there.
Comment by Roger Jones 08.29.08 @It’s a great beat, but a little abstract for where he was trying to go with that song.
Comment by Tray 08.29.08 @ill bill & preemo is a deadly combination..always thought bill was one of the most slept-on in terms of naming the top mc’s today
Comment by dj blendz 08.29.08 @The man is no doubt a legend and this is not random hatin but preme just sounds tired for a while now. Its like the love Stevie Wonder has even though he hasnt made a killer record for the longest you still love him for the great-ness he did. The formula of his beats just is real tired
