One of graff’s greatest characters has passed on. Having set records for bombing outsides in his prime, he underwent a blood transfer after suffering kidney failure in 1996 as a result of a life of inhaling paint fumes, having started his world famous career in 1972. It was this same condition that finally claimed his life on June 17, 2009. Rest In Peace IZ.

RIP to Iz. Iz was from Queens but he used to bomb the hell out of the 2 and 5 trains around my way; I remember seeing his shit when I was around 10 years old, and I’m an old head!! This cat here was a true original.

Its so ill once you learn about writing in nyc the 1st thing you learn is it has nothing to do with hip hop. Th hip hop community totally adopted writing for its own use and purposes.

Damn, RIP to a true legend and mad condolences to his family.

IZ has some throw ups running the SF Caltrain tunnels. When I would see them everyday on my commute, I would hear IZ quotes from Style Wars replaying in my head.
