Mega Montana orginally went by the handle of MC Cor for his first couple of guest shots. Here’s six classic Mega throwbacks, some of which he mentioned in last week’s Unkut interview.
Hot Day Dante feat. Arkim & MC Cor – ‘Going Straight Up’
Hot Day was a well-known QB DJ who showcased young local talents like Tragedy, Arkim and MC Cor on his on his early records.
PHD feat. MC Cor – ‘Set It Off’
After Hot Day formed the group PHD (Poet & Hot Day) with Blaq Poet, Mega got his second chance to shine on this 1991 sleeper.
Kamakazee feat. Nas & Cormega – ‘On The Real’ (original version)
Mega’s first record after he got home from jail. This track was later re-recoded with a new Cor verse and a feature from Havoc after the Nas verse was removed, since “there was a little bit of a situation where Nas wanted a certain amount of money”. Nas later made it a solo track for the Illmatic re-issue.
Syl Drama Feat Nas & Cormega – ’40th Side Of Things’
Some raw, basement party style shit. I’m guessing it’s from shortly before the Firm fuckery.
Tony Touch – ‘Cormega Freestyle’
Tape 60 heat from Tony Toca and Cor.
Cormega – ‘Sex, Drugs, Bitches & Money’
Some white label featuring some amusing ‘dirty raps’ about banging cartoon bitches.
