…And Six Reasons Why Hip-Hop Will Win In 2010

Just to end things off on a positive note…

1. Less Red Tape - You wanna know what the one upside of nobody selling records is? No one is going to sue you for uncleared samples if your album only sells 7,000 copies! More sampling = better beats.

2. The West Is The Best - Some of the more interesting new MC’s to make some noise this year were from the left coast. Fashawn, Nipsey, Blu, Jay Rock and ‘em all did some nice work over some quality production. Considering that Unkut is the home of ‘East-Coast Elitism’, they must be doing something right to make a blip on the radar.

3. New Music Due From NY Rappers Who Don’t Suck - Although we might be waiting a while, the possibility of new music from Roc Marciano, Killa Sha, Hard White, Boss Money, Black Rob, Sadat X and Sean Price may prevent me from cutting my ears off with a rusty razor blade in 2010.

4. Contemporary Jeep Music - Alchemist and Sid Roams kept snapping necks with their superior combination of cutting-edge beats based on classic rap foundations. ALC’s work on Rae’s ‘Surgical Gloves’ and Big Twins ‘I Wanna Be Down’ and Roams Zombie Musik album demonstrated hard beats done right.

5. Jay-Z Dies - If, by some unfortunate freak of nature – say, some tragic yachting accident should take the life of S. Carter after Jaz-O is seen tampering with the rudder – we will be subjected to ten years of tribute albums, songs of unused accapella’s matched with verses of rappers he hated while he was alive and literal borrowing of lines from his catalog by all the new heirs to the throne. Not to wish harm on anybody, but maybe Jigga dedications will put an end to the endless Biggie and Tupac memorials.

I agree with the more sampling as far as production goes. This decade was the worst for beats. All that keyboard and computer based production suck ass. Get back to sampling and looping, and go back to 12 bit tecnology (analog) and leave that clean digatal sounding shit alone.

shits gon b innovative, i feel some artists comin massive on sum nu sounds – check y’all red velvet by Agallah the Don Bishop, dis gonna b a piece of history for sure n i mark my words!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bout samplin, well i dunno, not so sure about dat, i feel except a few, this era of the rap game is about to disappear or samplin will be used differently, in a way we would n’t even it been sampled… would be technically considering more creative if peaople start makin real original beats… happy nu year robbie n all y’all unkut soujahz…

There’ll be hell’a more Hip-Hop influenced commercials in 2010 and I don’t think that is necessarily a bad thing.

Rakim’s ‘My Melody’ will be used for hearing aid products.

GEICO will use P.E.’s ‘Cant Truss It’ to shit on other companies insurance products.

UltraMag’s ‘Funky’ will be co-opted to pump air deodorizer.

Nike makes sure Hip-Hop stays soled out.

if unkut still delivers the raw and ignorant this year everything otherwise will be bearable.uno.

“More sampling = better beats.” = YES!!

New Music Due From: Boss Money. Really? Do we know who’s handling the beats? I hope P.Bros or someone that level.

“The World Premier of the first official Unkut Dot Com Mixtape”- I look forward to that.

I’m also looking forward to the alleged Jay Elec
debut album and more DOOM.

“Original beats” have SUCKED for the past 5 years, LOL! The ONLY cats that did the shit HOT without samples was Dilla and Rockwilder. There is NO case to continue with the “original” beats that have infected us for 5 fuckin’ years. Let there a great blend of both practices, fuck it! MORE SAMPLING, NO CORNY SHIT FOR A PUBLISHING CHECK! One!

IN THE RETROSPECTIVE…
JUST REGARDING THE TITLE OF THAT CHRONICLE: 2010 WAS PRETTY WACK AS A MATTER OF FACT UNFORTUNATELY FOR ALL TRUE HIP HO HEADS.
FORTUNATELY WE GOT GHOSTFACE WHO BROUGHT BACK SOME RUCKUS.
BUT 2011 HAS ALREADY STARTED PRETTY DOPE, WILLIE THE KID, ACTION BRONSON, THE ROOTS & JOHN LEGEND, AGALLAH, SEAN PRICE… ON THE EAST. THEN FASHAWN, FRED GIBBS, N.HUSSLE… @ THE WEST. NAPPY ROOTS N THE SOUTH KEEPS REPPIN… ETC… YEAH SIX MILLIONS REASONS WHY 2011 IS GON BE CRACK, MUSICALLY, SUBSTANTIALLY AND EGO TRIPPIN’CALLY.
