I’m neurotic about rap albums and still I think Marcberg is the best album of 2010. Too many try hard artists out there overlook the minimalist approach that this album succeeds at so well.

Reading this interview it makes sense why the album is so good – artists controlling everything on an album, no one messing with the creative vision. Making a record for yourself without worrying about pleasing fans. Exposure to other music doesn’t make me experiment – I try to keep doing what I like and do it better. Why aren’t more artists following this (fucking obvious) formula for classic hip hop.
This is one of the most cohesive, consistent, individual sounding records for a long time, and it avoids the usual problems plaguing albums these days. Looking forward to hearing stuff with Sean P., Madlib, Gza, and Alchemist, that could be ridiculous.

Good interview. Marcberg is on an infinite loop in everything i have that plays music right now. Funny that he see’s ridin around as a less serious track. I thought he absolutely killed that second verse, probably my favorite track on the album along with thugs prayer.

Yeah, he should press some CDs of that “Marcberg Reloaded” as well – even some Kunaki / Amazon “pressed by demand” type of thing – no budget style, but still a chance to get the hard copy and for him to earn even something!
I mean those who care would have at least a chance to buy it…
I wonder what’s up with him rappin over beats by Large Pro and P Bros ?

When that UN album came out he had all kinds of hot shit floating around, a long time comin, game of death… The Pete Rock shit is extra special to me but I would be interested to hear him on some Madlib shit.
