Searching For The Perfect Remix: The 45 King

Let’s be honest – it’s all about the ‘Best Kept Secret’ remix. That shit is a monster! That being said, I’ve always had a lot of time for the ‘Knock ‘Em Out Sugar Ray’ remix as well. The ‘Posse Is Large’ remix is included simply as a reminder of the lost art of conga loops…

Any chance you could put up the Instrumental of the remix of “Best Kept Secret”?

Flavor Unit Assassination Squad all day!!!!!!! You should have put that other remix of Let The Rhythm Hit Em with that Sequence loop in there. That Diamond D joint is a beast, too.

I’ll never forget when I first heard the Let The Rhythm Hit ‘Em remix – I tjought it was so wack compared to the original. I couldn’t believe it came from 45 King. And the original Flavor Unit Assassination Squad is still fire, another one that didn’t need a remix.

Agree on Best Kept Secret for the win.

Best kept got it…
Man, what ever happened to sugar ray, he had that smooth consistent flow.

Also the funky man’s run the line mix murks that one. :)

Best Kept Secret gets my vote as well, altho 45 King share the production/remix credit with Diamond himself for that one.

That DU track shouldn’t even be there.. it isn’t a remix at all. I know it’s a bit obvious, but “Wrath Of My Madness” is one of my favorite tracks on All Hail… It KILLS the original, as also does “Princess of the Posse” remix.

best kept secret gets the win,an instrumental would be better tho. wish somebody else flowed to that beat instead.

Double J must have gotten that horn sample from the Best Kept Sercret remix. It is used on Make Money on Apache Ain’t Shit.

mos def the “Best Kept Secret” just as good as Showbiz’s remix for “Sally got a one track mind”

The Rasco “Run The Line” 45 King remix is dope as well.

Comment by K-V 09.15.10 @

Yeah Robbie, The “Pose” Is Large all day, eh? In fact I think that’s a better title…

My vote is for the Rasco remix, since its both a dope rewrite of an already dope track and a whats up to a part of Rasco history at the same time, sounding similar to “The Unassisted” while standing its own ground. I like shit like that.

For comparison heres The Unassisted:

These all kill. But Rasco’s got my vote.

def. ridin’ with the ‘Best Kept’ remix… that was somewhat of a comeback for him too, after being out of the loop for a couple years due to his drug issues.

-D!

seriously though, anyone know if sugar ray still spittin?…

Comment by RowanB 09.15.10 @

As I’m an old fart it has to be the oldest track there for me – Microphone Fiend! Best Kept Secret is a close second though…

Comment by Chris Ward 09.15.10 @

Yup. Cosigns the Wrath of My Madness. None of the above did it for me.

Comment by Brock 09.16.10 @

Since when did 45 King remix ‘Wrath of My Madness’?

Comment by Robbie 09.16.10 @

damn Robbie, I always assumed that shit was his.

Comment by CENZI 09.16.10 @

Let the Rhythm Hit’em & Flavor Unit hands down. I don’t really feel that Rasco one. I agree though that his work with Latifa might be his best.

Comment by Cresno Fresh 09.16.10 @

wheres the latifah jawns?!? i voted for best kept secret, but his best is with the queen.

Comment by dmfslimm 09.17.10 @

Best kept for sure…
I always really liked the Sugar Ray remix better than the OG.

Sugar Ray became, Sugar Ray from the Double XX Posse, then Ray Slugs from Strong Peoples…
