Since their debut EP, The Ghastly Duo, in 2008, Matter Ov Fact and EP have gone from strength to strength, having released four full-length projects and a couple of free beat tapes. With Hark out next week, it’s the prefect time to take a look back at some of their finest work from the past five years.
“At Night”
Lawsuits from tourists in Time square pending.
“Dead Already”
The loop first heard on Large Professor‘s “I Just Wanna Chill” gets the Black Cloak treatment for this Lone Sharks creeper.
“Schemes”
Why work when you can claim fraudulent injuries?
“Whole Wide World”
The one where they channel Mobb Deep circa-1996, but replace gun talk with red-light European escapades.
“Vibes”
Vibraphones and the Lost Boys for the win for this 2012: A New Beginning winner.
“La La La”
The laid-back track and hook are the perfect compliment to the typically disturbing vocals.
“2012 Or Forever”
The highlight of the first EP, as the “Ashley’s Roachclip” break gets a new coat of paint.
“Props”
The original version of the track they contributed to the Unkut Counter Strike mixtape. Can’t lose with a Showbiz vocal for your hook.

The Doppelgangaz are fuckin dope! Initially I kinda slept on them cuz they were one of the million others who were only releasing music digitally, but then I got hip to their shit in 2011 with the release of the LONE SHARKS album. And I’m glad that they’ve made the effort to have most of their catalog available on both Vinyl and CD… I own all their shit on both and on Friday I just got their new album on CD in the mail… https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BE5VFpxCQAE_0gr.jpg:large (photo)
Comment by Wicked 03.10.13 @And btw, The Doppelgangaz themself said that this year 2013 they will also be releasing the Deluxe Version of LONE SHARKS on all formats (Digital/CD/Vinyl) along with a remastered version of BEATS FOR BROTHELS VOL.1 on all formats. They also said they hope to release a remastered version of THE GHASTLY DUO EP on all formats as they want their whole catalog available on all formats. That EP has never had a physical release. So yeah, lots to look forward to, especially for us vinyl heads.
Comment by Wicked 03.10.13 @The new album is great, dark, self-deprecating, crooked and all sorts of other tired cliches you’ve heard a million times. For whatever reasons it works on this album. Dudes are also getting better and better with their beats.
i started checking for these guys after Robbie dropped the debut ep on here, it was a good tip. Hard to believe it’s been 5 years, i guess that’s what happens with timeless music.
This gang its really good. @lou I think they got some cd’s out on Amazon.
Comment by Beats1.com 03.10.13 @Lone Sharks is their strongest LP thus far, imo. that album seems a bit more catchy and melodic on the whole. Big up to Robbie for keeping these guys up in the mix on a regular basis.
Comment by Eric Nord 03.11.13 @love the production…the emcees i dont know, theyre lacking something. They should do beats for more charismatic emcees instead.
