Mr. Walt and DJ Evil Dee teamed up with Rich Blak, Baby Paul and Chocolate Tye to create Da Beatminerz production crew, best known for driving the Boot Camp Clik to their finest moments but also providing some great remixes for a number of other acts. With a deep appreciation for jazz in particular, Da Beatminerz presented a sound that focused on loud drums and filtered bass while still flipping the more musical elements on top for some extra spice. While they continue to produce music to this day. I’ve focused on the mid-nineties period which produced some of their richest work, such as the eternal neck-snapper known as ‘No Fear.’
Please note: The remix of ‘Poppa Large’ isn’t included since it was done by Ike Lee and Aaron Lyles, who were only down with the crew briefly in the beginning.

I’ve just recently started to appreciate Da Beatminerz’ work. They didn’t really stand out like that to me back then. Nothing Move But The Money is the hardest joint they ever did, imo…
@oskamadison Really dawg? That sounds crazy?!?! Long time fan… @robbie that joint on boss hog barbarians a few years ago ‘hell no hoe’ knocks!!!!
I would add there remix of Brown Sugar by D’angelo off the strength of the G Rap verse alone.
I would have added something from Shadez of Brooklyn like “Change”
Dope. Slept on heaps of these.
good list, robbie!
I would add Freddie Foxxx’s “Devious Minds” and the simple yet effective Beatminerz remix of “Meiseo” with Black Thought & Malik B.
@ MofM
I dug Black Moon and Smif-N-Wessun’s first joints, of course. It’s just that cats like Premo, Pete Rock, Extra P and RZA had my ear during that time. Dee and Walt’s joints just didn’t hold my attention like that. Blame the overall shittiness of today’s game but I find myself revisiting a lot of the joints that I paid no attention to back then and liking a lot of it.
Cosign Ben on that D’Angelo remix. I’ll take it with or without G Rap. Gotta throw Rah Digga’s Tight up there too. Walt bodied the shit outta that…
@oskamad… better late than never all good fam. Co-sign on Shadez ov Brooklyn. Change b/w When it rainz it pourz was a solid record in ’96/’97… the D’angelo remix was cool but not for this list. I can see why robbie stayed away… vol.2!!! Another obscure joint was Terror Fabulous yagga yagga remix
Peace Connecticut was another dope new cut Apathy dropped few years ago… Beatminerz on the boards
Big respect for putting the Shortie No Mass joint on there!Loved that track since it dropped!
Hallucination-smif-n-wesun
Worst thing Bootcamp and Smiff n Wessun ever did was stop using these guys as in house producers.
Enta Da Stage and Dah Shinin’ = Timeless music
everything after those two prodjects = disposable
Yeah, Shadez and Finsta Bundy are actually better than BCC.
deserves a mention here

But, but…When it rain, it pours?
Great tracklist nonetheless, needed a soundtrack for my flight today, and here it is. Thanks, Robbie always on point.
Btw, am I the only one who rates Dah Shinin better than Enta Da Stage?
Supreme thanks for this. I never heard a bunch of these joints. Always loved how Evil d used to rock the ILL cinematic loops and Walt would stay twisting out a crazy bass flip. Peace to Mr. Walt for selling the same damn beat to Blackmoon, Flipmode and Em. He really made something concrete spectacular with that “I got ya opin” beat.
@pentagramparsons, no, sir, you are not the only one. I liked and like ‘Da Shinin’ more than Black Moon’s 1st LP.
Killin every. . .is the instrumental version or was that an intentional move?
Hey, Robbie, did you include the original, Kenny Parker-produced, ‘My Kinda Nigga’, for continuity purposes?
@hotbox and @foster: No I messed up, the Heather B song was meant to be ‘Real Niggaz Up.’
The remix they did for The Pharcyde’s Drop was dope also.. Gave it a nice twist.
Good looking Fosterakahunter, I medan Enta da stage is nice, but Dah Shinin is just…immaculate. OT Robbie, request for a salute to Black Thoughts best guest verses
Damn auto correct!
Astronomy by Black Star was fresh..of course change by Shadez and Finsta stuff as was mentioned.
Dope, but there definitely needs to be a volume 2.
No Fear = Produced by Preemo, no?
Heltah Skeltah nocturnal, and Black Moons fuck it up and the album in 03 Total Eclipse were some of my favorites
Robbie you forgot their remix of Mark Morrison’s Return of the Mack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoEVEtspQVo
It was the B-side of the single. If you need me to dig up my cassette single to rip it just let me know.
