Just when you thought the Ced Gee Special was over and done, I received a little something in my inbox from a guy calling himself Tim Frog. He sent me versions of the unrelesed mixes of “MC Champions” (sadly it cuts out before MC James gets on) and “Message From The Boss” that are a lot clearer than the versions previously posted here. Best of all, he also included “a recording from a short live appearance they did at VPRO radio in The Netherlands in 1990. All Star Fresh is DJ’ing for them”.
Kool Keith mentioned visiting Holland (where they also recorded with King Bee) in this interview:
R2P2: Do you remember doing a track in Holland with All Starr Fresh (King Bee) and Rude Boy in the 80’s?
Kool Keith: Yeah, when I first came to Holland it was All Star Fresh, King Bee, LJ. Holland was great for me. I came to Holland in 88/89. And Kees (de Koning) – Kees was the first one. I remember 89 walking through Holland with Kees. Kees was real skinny. Now he’s big. I love Kees.
All Star Fresh- I remember nothing but hospitality. I stayed at All Star Fresh his house. His mom cooked chicken. I had fun, it was real. I was in Amsterdam way before I even knew I was in Amsterdam. It was nothing but love, my realness of coming out here, I liked Holland ever since. I came out here a long time ago.
In other Ultramagnetic news, they’ve got a brand new record featuring all four members dropping soon, called “Is it them”/”Super Spell Bound”. I should have some snippets in the next day or so.
Ultramagnetic MCs – MC Champion (original clear version)
Ultramagnetic MCs – Message From The Boss (original clear version)
Ultramagnetic MCs – Live on VPRO Radio, 1990.
another great post.
keep em coming.
i hope that ultramagnetic magic still exists
Word. We could use some more ultamagnetic love. Cause (most) everything that I hear Keith do solo these days usually makes me choke when I hear it, it’s so damn shitty. We know you hate the rap game and shit, but could you stop those pansy flows over them candy ass beats?
Tim Frog = new realest nigga in da bloggin’ game.
NL got nothing but love for Ultra.
the og version of message from the boss is available at the tuff city website.
it`s the flipside to watch your back.
Ahhh, it feels so good to finally have decent mp3s of these tracks! Good work.
pretty clear…nice one tim frog.
end level boss is a def moniker.
Dr. Nogatco is tight.
Maann that live track is hype.
Got any more live Ultras in the vaults??
Rob Gee That is so funky been after that for a while
I HAVE ULTRA BOOTLEGS 2 ANOTHER DIFF VERSION OF MESSAGE FROM THE BOSS AND CED GEE FREESTYLES!!
I’m sad to say this but the new Ultramags album should not have been made, The Best Kept Secret should have been left a secret, it just sounds flat and dull and Ced Gee’s rhymes are pretty weak…Kool Kieth is okay on a couple of tracks but the magic has long gone :(
That Cold Slammin’ track is excellent!
The Links to the songs are’nt working, at least not 4 me
I did that actual interview with Kool Keith, it was awesome. After that he invited me again backstage the next year performing in Amsterdam. To me Kool keith is still the most important MC out there, no matter what.
